Travel with us to Costa Rica, Hawaii, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Palau, the Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas…with more destinations on the horizon.

Hike into Costa Rica’s Corcovado National Park, down a section of Australia’s Bibbulman Track, and along Kauai’s Na Pali Coast.  Visit a market on Thailand’s border with Burma.  Ride with locals, chickens, and farm produce on an over-packed pickup truck in Laos.  Visit a community celebration at a Cambodian temple.  Weather a hurricane on a deserted Caribbean island.  Along the way, check out some restaurants and sample some beer.

We like getting outdoors, exploring places untarnished by tourism, engaging with locals, and struggling with languages.  We hike and camp in remote areas, have become skilled at driving motorbikes through knee-deep mud, and often get lost in the middle of nowhere.  But when it’s done, we want a hot shower, a decent meal, and a comfortable bed — all without emptying the bank account.  Travel without tourism is the goal.

This site is organized around main stories on each destination, which can be found under the “Read” category.  The “Eat,” “Sleep”, “Drink,” and “Spend” categories amplify these main stories, providing reviews and insights on dining, accommodations, local beers, and expenses.  The “Listen” category contains some unique sounds from various locations.  The “See” category provides a central link to the site’s travel photography.  Under “Equip” you will find reviews of the gear we have used.
